Della Daigle, 89, died peacefully May 18, 2025 at her Caribou residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Stockholm, Maine on January 5, 1936, the daughter of Arthur and Odelie (Lozier) Rossignol. On January 5, 1963 she married Gilford Daigle, and together they made their home first in Eagle Lake, Maine then in Caribou, Maine. She was a selfless caregiver to her family, her many daycare kids, foster children and her precious grandchildren.
She was also a devoted Catholic who trusted in the Lord, attended mass faithfully and never missed her daily rosary with Mother Angelica. Della will be remembered for being grateful, generous and joyful. Her kind and gentle spirit brought out the best in everyone who knew her.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Gilford Daigle, her parents, sisters Amelda Gormley, Regina Doucette, and Viola Secrist, and brothers, Clarance, Rosaire, Armand, and Richard Rossignol.
She is survived by her children, David Daigle (Polly Brayall), Donna Sturzl and husband Timothy, Sharon Hodsdon and husband Kevin, Douglas Daigle, Mary Huston and husband Stan, all of Caribou, and Holly Daigle and husband James of Pflugerville, TX; grandchildren, Connie (Alex) Anderson, Jamie (Terry) Huston, Adam Huston, Sara (Andrew) Eklund, Brandon (Liz) Hodsdon, Maria (Kendall) Wilcox, Alex (Laura Horowitz) Hodsdon, Leah (Erik) St. Peter, Joe Sturzl (fiancé Paige Weaver) and Avery Sturzl; several great-grandchildren, one sister, Marie Kinney of Houlton; a dear niece, Diane Button; and special nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends are invited to visit with the family on Monday, May 26, 2025 at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou, from 2PM until 4PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at the Parish of the Precious Blood Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Interment will be in the New Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery. A time of continued fellowship will follow in the church dining hall.
