David Walter Hitchings of Moyock, North Carolina passed away after several months of illness on August 1, 2021. He was born in Caribou, Maine on October 19, 1930 to Eugene and Edith Hitchings. He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Margaret Russell Hitchings; his son, John Hitchings; his sister, Doris Cyr, all of Caribou; and his brother, Robert Hitchings of Kittery, Maine.

He is survived by his son, Paul Hitchings (and wife Sidney) of Jackson, Tennessee, and his daughter, Mary Saunders, of Moyock, North Carolina; his brother, Gerald W. Mr. Hitchings served his country honorably in the U. S. In his “spare” time he built a new home that he and his family lived in for many years.

During his 80 years in Caribou he was a devoted member of the United Baptist Church. He will be remembered as a family man, a good neighbor, and one who was there for those that need a helping hand.
