David Claude Stairs, 70, died April 3, 2026 in the comfort of his Caribou home. He was born in Caribou, July 12, 1955 the son of Claude and Jeannette (Ouellette) Stairs. David was a 1973 graduate of Caribou High School and was a lifelong member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Following graduation from high school, David attended Washington County Vocational Technical Institute where he completed the wood harvesting program. After many grueling years of working in the woods, Dave hung up his chainsaw to attend Northern Maine Community College where he earned his Commercial Driver’s License. He travelled the United States delivering products for several northern Maine trucking companies. David loved all the wonders of nature, spending time with friends playing cribbage and was always full of advice, especially if you were trying to get from here to there. He was very proud of his accomplishments and proud of his sons and the families they created.

Surviving in addition to his mother, Jeannette Stairs of Caribou, are his sons Daniel Stairs and wife Monique, and Christopher Stairs and wife Hannah both of Caribou, brothers and sisters-in-law, Rick Stairs and April of Caribou, Jeffrey Stairs and Diane of Bristol, CT, sister and brother-in-law, Cheryl Bossie and Craig of Caribou, his former wife and mother of his children, Diane Lagasse Alexander of Caribou, his beloved grandchildren, Cady, Collin and Garrison Stairs all of Caribou, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends too numerous to mention.
