Caribou - David E. Hansell, 82, passed away at his Hudson home, July 5, 2024 with his family by his side after a long battle with heart disease. He was born in Bridgeport, PA., Feb. 13, 1942 the son of the late Edward E. and Helen (Ochnich) Hansell. David was very spirited throughout his life. He loved the outdoors, including hunting and always wanted to go fishing. He truly enjoyed taking everyone of his kids, grandkids and great grandkids on fishing trips. He was a cub scout leader for many years. Watching the Scouts grow and learn, while helping their community was very rewarding to him. He especially liked the special events held at Camp Roosevelt. He always had a soft spot for his Pennsylvania hometown and was a diehard Eagles and Phillies fan, right to the end. David also loved the community that he made his home for over 40 years, in Caribou. He thoroughly enjoyed his community and the activities for seniors, including senior bingo days, and afterwards going to Bonanza, cribbage tournaments, and hanging out at McDonalds to chat with friends.
David was predeceased by his first wife Patricia A. Bailey (Roughton); second wife of 38 years, Dorothy M. Hansell (Deal); His parents Edward E. and Helen F. Hansell; sister Jacqueline M. Studinarz; Grandson Steven A. Bender; Stepdaughter Diane M. Somers; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
David is survived by his Aunt Elizabeth Hunsberger (AuntBetty); sons; David E. Hansell Jr of Dade City Fla; Edward E. Hansell of Mapleton, Maine; stepson Harold Turck and his wife Bonnie of Caribou, Maine; Daughters Jacqueline M. Lenzi and her husband Ricky of Reading, Pennsylvania; Eileen Lempicki and her husband Tom of Homosassa, Florida; Patricia Bender and her partner John Schepis of Lansdale, Pennsylvania; Heather Haney and her husband Randy of Hudson, Maine; Stepdaughter Suzanne M. Cauley of Wiggins, Mississippi; niece Kristen Americk and her husband Jude of Bayonne NJ; and a special lady friend Willetta (Tine) Gaston, of Caribou, Maine. He is also survived by several grandkids and great grand kids, and many friends.
Friends may call at the Mockler Funeral Home, July 29, 2024 from 12PM until time of services which will be held at 1PM. Graveside services will be held at the Old Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery. A celebration of Dave’s life will follow from 3PM-5PM at the Scout Hall in Caribou, which he was so proud to have helped build.
