Darrell L. Philbrook

WASHBURN – Darrell L. Philbrook, 84, died February 22, 2022 at Presque Isle following a period of declining health. He was born in Woodland, January 8, 1938 the son of the late Merle and Doris (Briggs) Philbrook. Darrell was a graduate of Washburn High School. He married Carol Barton in 1957. He was a machinist in Caribou for many years, and also owned and operated a fly-tying shop in Washburn for many years. Darrell was an avid outdoorsman and fisherman, and will be remembered by many for his fly-tying abilities. He tied flies for several area sporting goods stores and was especially proud of the fact that he tied many flies for the L.L. Bean Company. He was a longtime member and Past-Master of Washburn Lodge #193 A.F. & A.M, and also a member of the Crouseville Advent Christian Church. Surviving in addition to his wife  of over 64 years, Carol of Washburn, are his children, Earl Philbrook of Worcester, MA, Cynthia Philbrook of Myrtle Beach, NC, and Kathleen Philbrook of Washburn, one brother, Kempton Philbrook of FL, one sister, Geraldine Lee of MO, several nieces and nephews. Mr. Philbrook was predeceased by a son Donald. Graveside service with Masonic rite will be held at 10AM on June 18, 2022 at the Riverside Extension Cemetery, Washburn.
