Madawaska Lake

Connie Lee (Disy) Brown, 76, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2025, at the Aroostook House of Comfort in Presque Isle, surrounded by love, after a courageous journey through illness.

Born in Caribou on February 9, 1949, Connie was the daughter of Edward G. Disy Sr. and Sylvia (Chapman) Disy. She graduated from Caribou High School and went on to earn her Licensed Practical Nurse credentials from Northern Maine Vocational Technical Institute in Presque Isle. Connie devoted many years to Cary Medical Center, where she worked on the Labor and Delivery floor. Nursing was more than a career—it was a calling. She often spoke with deep affection about helping families welcome their babies into the world, a role she considered one of her greatest joys and accomplishments.

Later in life, Connie brought her warmth and welcoming spirit to DoDo’s Market, where she managed the store and built lasting friendships with customers. She had a gift for making people feel seen and valued—no one was ever a stranger to Connie, just a friend she hadn’t met yet.

For over 20 years, Connie made her home at Madawaska Lake with her beloved partner, Wayne Violette. She found peace and happiness in the quiet beauty of the lake, often calling it her “very happy place.”

Connie was an active member of her community, participating in the JC Club, the Nordic Laker’s Snowmobile Club, and the Lioness Club, where she served as President Elect in 1992–1993. Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life, and she was a longtime member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Lesley (Brown) Larimore and husband Jay of Advance, NC, and Sara (Brown) Charette and husband James of Bangor, ME; her life partner, Wayne Violette of Madawaska Lake; her grandchildren, Mathew Sutherland and wife Renee Windsor of CA, Hanna Steinbock and husband Hunter of Phoenix, AZ, and Madisen Larimore of Scottsdale, AZ. Connie also remained close with her former husband, Richard Brown of Caribou.

She is survived by her siblings: Edward Disy Jr. and wife Paula of NC, Antionette Makarewicz of SC, Frances Day of Bangor, Michael Disy and partner Judy of NY, Lute Disy of FL, Greg Disy and wife Kathie of Cross Lake. Sister-in-Law Garnet Disy of Caribou. She was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Sylvia Disy; her brother Tony Disy; sisters-in-law Candy and Linda Disy; brother-in-law Rick Day; and nephew Nick Disy.

Family and friends are invited to gather for memorial visitation on Friday, September 19th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St, Caribou, ME.
