Connor Twp

Claude J. LaMothe, 86 died November 7, 2025 at Maine Veterans Home, Bangor, following a period of declining health. He was born in Baker Lake, New Brunswick, Canada, April 7, 1939 the son of the late Arthur and Antoinette (Berube) LaMothe. Mr. LaMothe served with the US Army during the early years of the Vietnam Conflict. He married Norma St. Peter on April 22, 1965. He was a lifelong member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church as well as a member of the Fred V. Brescia Council 1870 Knights of Columbus. Claude held several jobs over the years, including driving for Carl Smith Foods and Cyr Brothers. He spent many years in the recycling business, first at Solman Distributors and then retiring from Tri-Community Landfill. Claude liked to canoe, swim and fish. He truly loved being around the water and bringing his grandchildren to watch the sunsets at Madawaska Lake. He enjoyed making birdhouses and gave most of them away to family and friends. But most of all, Claude liked to work. His passion was cutting trees. He began cutting trees as a teenager and continued climbing and felling trees well into his 80’s. He was always willing to lend a hand, whether it was a stranded motorist, a carpentry project for a family member or friend, clearing snow on people’s vehicles or shoveling the steps. If you needed anything all you had to do was call and he would come.

He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Norma of Connor Twp., their sons Claude “Chip” LaMothe and wife Teresa and Rick LaMothe and wife Heidi all of Caribou. His grandchildren; Lance LaMothe, Derrick LaMothe and wife Sarah, Dylan LaMothe and Heather Cousins and husband Noah. Great grandchildren; Kayden, Lane, Otto and Derrick LaMothe II. Brothers; Paul LaMothe, Roland LaMothe and wife Kathy, and Mario LaMothe. Sisters; Jakie LaMothe and Irene Bourque. A special cousin Helena (Mena) Ouellet as well as many other special cousins and in-laws.
