Cecil P. Walton

July 27, 1940 — August 12, 2022

CARIBOU – Cecil Paul Walton, 82, died peacefully after a long illness on August 12, 2022 at his home surrounded by family. He was born in Caribou on July 27, 1940, the son of the late James and Hazel (King) Walton. He was raised in Caribou, attended Caribou schools and graduated with the Caribou High School Class of 1958. Cecil P. owned and operated Custom Printers and Eagle Printing. He also taught graphic arts at Caribou High School in the early 2000s. He was a longtime and faithful member of the Caribou United Baptist Church, where he served as an usher and on the maintenance committee.

Cecil P. will be remembered with distinction for beautifully restoring his  white and red 1959 Chevrolet Impalas, Volkswagen buses, and for his regular attendance at many car shows! He loved riding motorcycles — both dirt and road bikes.

He deeply loved the outdoors — the scenery, camping, hunting, fishing, boating and was especially fond of trout fishing on the Aroostook River.  He loved bald eagles and had a collection of eagle carvings.

Fiddleheads were an annual springtime treat that he gathered and shared with many family and friends. Impromptu lunches and picnics were frequently his way of showing his loved ones time and attention. Photography, 50s rock n’ roll and music of all kinds, writing poetry and playing the drums were fine examples of Cecil P. the artist.

Cecil treasured the special memories made with his many nieces and nephews in his younger years. He always shared kind and encouraging words with everyone he met — friend or stranger. He was full of joy, laughter and was a loyal, honest and consistent man.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Lois (Flewelling) Walton of Caribou, their son, James Walton and wife Mellisa of Oakfield, NY, two grandchildren, Clara and Hudson Walton, and two step-grandchildren, Taylor and Camdyn Wells, all of Oakfield, NY, Cecil’s son-in-heart, Jordan Cyr and wife Emily, and their children, Colton, Carter, and Camden, all of Graniteville, SC. He is also survived by 7 of his 10 siblings, Myrtle Spencer of Bangor, Ronald Walton of VA, Maynard Walton of Orrington, Elery Walton of Bangor, Pauline Conley of Glenburn, Judy Hanst and husband Kenneth of VA, and Lydia Dieckmann and husband Douglas of Houlton, many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. Cecil was predeceased by siblings, Doris Carroll, James Walton Jr., and Lindell Walton.

Friends may visit with the family Saturday, August 20, 2022 at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou, from 6-8PM. A memorial service will be held at the Caribou United Baptist Church, at 2PM on Sunday, August 21, 2022 with Pastor Tim Soucy and Pastor Michael Sullivan officiating.
