Carroll E. Steeves

September 10, 1937 — November 18, 2019

Caribou – Carroll E. Steeves, 82, died November 18, 2019 at home surrounded by his loving family.  He was born September 10, 1937 in Caribou, the son of the late Edmund and Louise (Nadeau) Steeves.  He was a 1956 graduate of Caribou High School and was employed as a shift supervisor at American Kitchen Foods, Johnson Products, McCain Foods and Cyr Foods.  He also worked at J.M. Huber until retirement. On June 19, 1958 he married Joan M. Saucier and together they shared 61 years of marriage.  Carroll will be remembered as a kind and gentle person who often put others ahead of himself.  Family was always first and he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  On December 2, 1969 he donated a kidney to his mother when transplants were new and experimental procedures.  He was very proud of his sacrifice knowing his mother lived a full life and that his kidney never failed her.  Carroll was a devoted communicant of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.  He enjoyed watching the Caribou Vikings and Boston Red Sox. In his younger years, he loved to fish and hunt.  Carroll’s true passion was spending time with and attending his grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s events.  Most of all he was devoted to spending time with his beloved wife, Joan.  Surviving in addition to his wife Joan of Caribou are his four sons and their spouses,  Danny and Lori Steeves of Stockholm, Randy and Terri Steeves, Keith Steeves, all of Caribou, Blaine and Bobbie Steeves of Machiasport, one daughter and her spouse Sharon and Tom Atcheson of Woodland, eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by a sister Marilyn Adams.  Friends may call at the Mockler Funeral Home, Thursday, November 21, 2019 from 6  to 8 pm.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 am, Friday, November 22, 2019 from the Parish of the Precious Blood Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Caribou.
