Caribou – Carolyn M. McGill, 80, died July 2, 2022 at the Aroostook House of Comfort in Presque Isle. She was born in Limestone, October 31, 1941 the daughter of Morris and Annie (Drost) St. Peter. On July 20, 1964 she married Robert C. McGill, and together they shared 51 years of marriage until his death in 2015. Carolyn was a hard worker, and had several jobs in her lifetime. She worked in many area factories before she obtained her C.N.A. certification and went to work at the Maine Veterans Home in Caribou, at the Caribou Rehab and Nursing Center, and for Visiting Nurses. Carolyn also worked for C.M.C. and Maintenance, Inc., cleaning both D.F.A.S. and D.H.H.S. Carolyn loved to travel, and was lovingly referred to as a “snow bunny” because she could always think of trips she needed to make during a snowstorm. She was a 29-year cancer survivor. She also enjoyed trips to the casino where she would tell people she could feel it in the machine before she would win. Carolyn is survived by her children, Anthony McGill and wife Vicki of Caribou, Sierra Cassidy of Caribou, Sheila Gustafson and husband Craig of New Sweden, and Eric McGill and significant other Nicole Green of Limington, her sisters, Ethel White of Readfield, and Loretta Doody of Caribou, 2 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Elizabeth Watson and Charlene Fenlason.
Graveside services will be held 10AM Friday, July 22, 2022 at the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery, Lombard Road, Caribou. Since Carolyn had a heart for animals, the family asks that you consider a donation in lieu of flowers to the Central Aroostook Humane Society, 24 Cross Street, Presque Isle, ME 04769.
