Brenda A. Bourgoine, 82, died March 25, 2026 at the Aroostook House of Comfort surrounded by family following an illness. She was born in Fort Fairfield, June 12, 1943 the daughter of Aaron Jackson Jr. and Myrtle (Morin) Jackson. She was a graduate of Allagash High School. On November 28, 1963, she married John H. Bourgoine and they made their home in Caribou. Together they operated John's oil burner service and the Burning Log Stove Shop, where she kept the books and assisted with other business operations. She was a 60 year member of the Caribou Night Extension Group, a founding and active member of the Aroostook County Genealogical Society, assisted with several Maine cemetery reference books and served as a ballot clerk for many years for the city of Caribou. She was a past board member and director of the Nylander Museum. Brenda was also an active board member of the Caribou Public Library. She could often be found researching in the historical room and enjoyed sharing her findings with others. Brenda was an avid outdoorswoman who enjoyed camping and fishing; especially on the St. John River with her husband. Brenda was a faithful communicant of the Parish of the Precious Blood Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
Brenda loved family unconditionally and was proud of every accomplishment. She treated each person she met with respect and kindness. Brenda radiated love in a way that you couldn't help but feel like part of the family.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, John H. Bourgoine of Caribou, their three children and their spouses, Trudy Rairdon (Roger) of Hodgdon, Lisa Cronkhite (Terry) of Levant, John A. Bourgoine (Kimberly) of Caribou, grandchildren and their families, Amanda O’Bar Overlock (Joseph) and son Bradley, Jerica O’Bar Dutton (Matt) children Evelyn and Raleigh and Sierra Savoy, Zachary Cronkhite (Erika) and their daughter Emma, Aedan and Cote Bourgoine, and Haley Mayne. Brenda is also survived by seven sisters, Susan Michaud (Murray) of Ashland, Anita Reid of S. China, Valerie Small (Jim) of Vassalboro, Melissa Patenaude (Tony) of San Antonio, Texas, Joyia Cyr (Rick) of Portage Lake, Virginia Graham (Chuck) of Centralia, Washington, Belinda Jackson (Dusty Roy) of Jay, five brothers, Thomas Jackson of Bailey, Colorado, Guy Jackson (Norma) of Portage, George Jackson (Pam) of Bangor, Daniel Jackson of S. China, Matthew Jackson of Allagash, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Brenda was predeceased by her parents, and by siblings, Esther, Larry, Aaron (Junior), Loomis and Terry.
Friends are invited to visit with the family on Monday, April 6, 2026 from 9AM until 10:45AM at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11AM at the Parish of the Precious Blood Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Interment will be in the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery Caribou.
