Beverly Brown Raymond, 94, died July 31, 2025 at Fort Kent. She was born in Worcester, MA, September 4, 1930 the daughter of the late Walter and Gertrude (Dillon) Brown. She was a graduate of Cushing Academy in Massachusetts as well as Blackstone College in Virginia. Bev enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1952 and served during Korea. She was honorably discharged in 1954. She married Donald Raymond in 1972 and together they resided in Laurel, Maryland for over 25 years, where she was employed as the manager of retail sales at Tuerkes-Becker in Washington, D.C. Following her retirement in 1994, she and Don relocated to Northern Maine, residing in Portage Lake and Caribou. Following Don’s passing in 2015 Bev moved to Leisure Village in Presque Isle and then to Forest Hill in Fort Kent until her passing.
She was very active in local veterans’ programs, volunteering at the Maine Veterans Home, Caribou, an active member of the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery Committee, where she spent many hours working on cemetery beautification projects. She was a lifetime member of AMVETS, Henry P. Pratt Post 15 American Legion as well as numerous veteran’s advocacy groups. Bev will be remembered as a leader, an organizer, her generosity and loyalty to her friends as well as her wit and sharp tongue. She loved dogs, especially her Samoyeds, Garm and Hussey.
She is survived by a son, Jay Farley, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Reginald and Judy Raymond of Ashland, Raynold and Betty Raymond of Connecticut, Anita and Laurel Theriault of Exeter, nieces, nephews, and numerous friends. Mrs. Raymond was predeceased by her husband, Don, and a sister Geraldine Philbrook.
Graveside services with military honors will be held Thursday, August 7, 2025 at 12 Noon at the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the wonderful staff and hospice care team at Forest Hill for their kindness, compassion and understanding during Bev’s journey home.
