Beatrice Spinney

January 8, 1943 — March 25, 2023

CARIBOU and FARMINGTON – Beatrice "Bea" Verlie Louise Spinney, 80, died March 25, 2023 surrounded by her loving family at the home of her son in Farmington. She was born in Caribou, January 8, 1943 the daughter of the late Robert and Sadie (Tracy) Watson. She married Philip Spinney, June 9, 1962, and together they shared 36 years of marriage before his death in 1998. In 1980 Bea and Phil chose to share their lives and love with their son David who they adopted, giving him a loving home and amazing life.  When not caring for David and Phil, Bea worked for several area families as a caregiver to the elderly.

Beatrice loved to dance and sing and have fun with family and friends.  Beatrice was self-taught on the piano and accordion which she played so beautifully. Beatrice always had a smile on her face that could light up a room.  Beatrice loved to joke and laugh and always brought life to a party and a smile to anyone she met. Later in life Beatrice found a love for the outdoors and spent that time with her companion Simon Bernier, they hunted, fished and went 4 wheeling giving Beatrice even more appreciation for life. Beatrice was a kind and nurturing soul who always put others first.  Beatrice was an amazing mother, a loving wife and companion, and a beautiful friend.  

Beatrice is survived by her son, David D. Spinney-Porter and husband Malcolm Porter of Farmington, her brother Clifford Watson of Caribou and many beloved nieces and nephews in Maine and across the country.  Beatrice is predeceased by her sisters Marcella Doody, Thelma Wardwell, Bertha Levesque, Winnie Smith, and her brother Charles Watson. Beatrice is also predeceased by her companion of more than 20 years Simon Bernier.  Beatrice is survived by his three children Brent Bernier, Beverly Edgecomb, and Peggy Burgoyne.

Friends are invited to visit with the family on Monday, April 3, 2023 at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou, from 11AM until time of services which will be held at 1PM from the chapel of the funeral home. Spring interment will take place on June 9, 2023 at Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to the American Lung Association, 55 W. Wacker Drive, Suite 1150, Chicago, IL 60601.
