Arthur Prentiss Jr.

June 14, 1933 — April 26, 2012

Limestone- Arthur “Art” R. Prentiss Jr. 78, died April 26, 2012 at Caribou. He was born in Manchester, N.H. June 14, 1933 the son of the late Arthur and Eunice (Leavitt) Prentiss Sr. Mr. Prentiss was a proud veteran, serving as a S/Sgt with the US Air Force during the Korean conflict. He married Judith Brown. He grew up in Manchester New Hampshire and later moved to Merrimack, where he owned and operated Art’s Trucking and Repair. He was also a dealer for Chaparral and Polaris snowmobiles prior to retiring to St. Petersburg, Fl. More recently he and his wife Judy lived in Limestone. Art was an active volunteer with the Veterans Facility for many years while living in Florida. He loved wood working and he spent many hours working on special projects for family and friends. He crafted many gifts with keen attention to details and the recipient’s interests. His creations will be treasured by all who have them. Over the years, Art was an active member of many service organizations including the Merrimack Exchange Club. Surviving in addition to his wife of over 59 years, Judy of Limestone, are his children; Linda Prentiss of Merrimack, N.H., David Prentiss and his wife Sue of Limestone, Mark Prentiss of Limestone, and Lisa Prentiss Carter and her husband Randy of Hooksett, N.H. A granddaughter Bonnie Beaulieu and her husband David of Limestone and two great grandchildren, Evan and Lundyn Beaulieu. Mr. Prentiss was predeceased by his parents, a brother Eugene and two sisters, Muriel and Vivian. Graveside services with military honors will be held 10 am Tuesday May 1, 2012 at the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery Caribou.
