Arline N. (Johnson) Ferguson

April 28, 1933 — August 17, 2021

NEW SWEDEN - Arline Naomie Johnson Ferguson, 88, of New Sweden, passed away August 17, 2021 at her home, the farm, with her family by her side. She was born at home on the farm in New Sweden, on April 28, 1933, to Walfred Johnson and Estella (Anderson) Johnson. 

Arline graduated from Caribou High School and started working as a Soda Jerk at the local pharmacy in Caribou. Later she worked for Day’s Jewelers, Montgomery Ward, Aroostook Trust Company, RSVP and Arline’s Crafty Arts. 

She was a loving wife, mother, Grammy and friend. She is survived by her daughters, Sandra Ferguson of New Sweden, Colleen and Christopher Macklin of South Portland, grandson, Lt. Nicholas J. Macklin and wife Megan, of Portsmouth, VA, granddaughter, Makayla Runner and husband Aaron, of Roswell, GA, great-grandchildren, Isla, Callum Macklin and Baby Boy Runner due in October. She was predeceased by her parents, Walfred and Estella, her husband Basil Ferguson, and son Jeffrey Ferguson.

Arline was a very positive person whose strong faith carried her through many life challenges. She enjoyed times with family at the farm and at the family camp at Cross Lake, crafting, painting, and her pets. 

A celebration of her life will be held at Gustaf-Adolph Lutheran Church, New Sweden, Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 1:00pm with Rev. Dr. Robert Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the New Sweden Cemetery. A time of continued fellowship and refreshments will be held in the Svea Hall. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caring professionals with Northern Light Hospice for their thoughtful care.
