Amy Violette Desmond, 50, died May 1, 2026 at the Aroostook House of Comfort with her family by her side. She was born in Caribou, July 20, 1975 the daughter of Wayne and Laura (Getchell) Violette. Amy was a 1993 graduate of Caribou High School and then went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Salem State University and a Master of Education from Endicott College. Ms. Desmond was a beloved teacher at Manchester-by-the-Sea for 20 years. She still treasured the many letters written to her by students and parents alike. She will be remembered as a wonderful mother, daughter, and teacher. Her children were her pride and joy; she was very proud of them and their accomplishments. In her earlier years, Amy enjoyed the fun, peace and serenity of camp life.
She is survived by her parents, Laura and Wayne Violette of Caribou, her children, Amanda Desmond and Jacob Desmond, and her loving husband, Mark Desmond, all of Beverly, MA. Amy is survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins, including a special aunt Judy Corey of Caribou, special cousins, Jennifer Corey of Grotton, CT, Kimberly and Michael Hackett of Caribou, a close friend, Edwina Parent of Cumberland, and a sister-in-law, Betsy Desmond. She is also survived by her beloved cat, Peanut, who provided her so much comfort and companionship.
Friends are invited to visit with the family at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou on Friday, May 8, 2026 from 9AM until time of services which will be held at 10AM from the chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Anthony Korir, SMA officiating. Interment will be in the Old Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery, Caribou. A time of continued fellowship and refreshments will be held following the service.
