WOODLAND – Hugh G. Akerson, 70, passed away October 21, 2019 at his Woodland residence following a brief illness. He was born in Caribou, November 25, 1948 the son of John and Myrtle (Hughes) Akerson. He was a Caribou High School graduate, and drove truck for several area logging operations for many years. On July 22, 1995, Hugh married Norma Ouellette. Hughie was a proud member of AA for 28 years. He enjoyed the friendships, comradery and strength that he found there. He took great pride in mentoring and supporting his fellow members. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, camping and four-wheeling with his family. Hugh is survived by his wife, Norma, of Woodland, daughters and sons-in-law, Tina and Chad Jardine of Perham, Tammy and Ronald Clavette of Caribou, Trina Farley and partner Mitchell Knight of Washburn, Janet Doak of Presque Isle, Jeannie and James Johnson of Castle Hill, and a son, Glenn Tupper of Caribou, his sisters, Misty Cote of FL, Nathlie Riggs of IN, and Marilyn Olmstead of CT, 7 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, John and Galen Akerson, and a sister, Kathy Gallagher Friends may visit with the family at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou, Saturday, October 26, 2019 from 11am until time of services which will be held at 1pm from the chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Robert Smith officiating. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Perham.
