Adelaide Klein

December 31, 1969 — March 20, 2011

Stockholm-Adelaide M. (Lavoie) Klein 95 passed away peacefully March 20, 2011 at High View Manor, Madawaska. She was born in St. Rose, Quebec Canada the youngest daughter of the late Joseph and Caroline (Morin) Lavoie. At a very young age, Adelaide crossed the St. John River by boat with her mother and siblings to move to Stockholm. She has many fine memories of her life in Stockholm and her many friends there. She frequently spoke of her brothers starting a community band and later playing accordion with them at many social functions in the area. She attended school in Stockholm and at the age of nineteen, she married Gunnar Sandstrom who predeceased her. She moved to Carteret New Jersey in 1951 where she was employed by the Jersey Mortage Company, where she met and married Dan Klein who predeceased her. In 1957 Adelaide moved to Jacksonville, Florida and was employed at Jacksonville University until her retirement in 1984. She was a computer operator in the Registrars office at a time when computers took up whole rooms. She took great pride in caring for her yard and many flowers. She also enjoyed knitting. She returned to Maine in 2009 where she lived until her death. She is survived by her two children, Jacqueline Simoneaux and her husband Jules of Jacksonville, Fl., and Michael Sandstrom and his wife Anne of Stockholm. Seven grandchildren; Steve Simoneaux and his wife Janet of Coral Springs, Fl., Rene Miller and her husband Gordon of Jacksonville, Fl. Guy Simoneaux and his wife Linda of McDonough GA., Timothy Sandstrom and his companion Claudia Springer, and Tamara Cote and her husband Jeff, all of Stockholm, Jennifer Sandstrom of Wilmington, N.C. and Jessica Richardson and her husband Michael of Turner. Fourteen great grandchildren; Alex Simoneaux of Coral Springs, Fl., Sarah and Richard Miller of Jacksonville, FL., Jessica and Guy Jr. Simoneaux of McDonough, GA., Caleb Sandstrom of Mesa, AZ. Jade Anderson of Caribou, Brady Anderson of Stockholm, Lindsey and Courtney Cote of Stockholm, Cody Douglass of Turner, Kayla, Melissa and Cali Richardson of Turner. Two special nephews, Germain and Roger Gagne of Edmundston, N.B. and her special friends, Freda Morin of Madawaska, Queenie Peterson of Caribou and Vivian Anderson of Van Buren. Mrs Klein was predeceased by nine siblings; Rosa, Noella, Georgianna , Delina, Irene, Gertrude, Mitchell, Joseph and Eugene . The family is sincerely thankful to the staff at Country Village Estates and High View Manor for the outstanding care they provide our mother during her stay with them. A memorial Mass will be celebrated 11:00 am Saturday June 11, 2011 from St Theresa’s Catholic Church Stockholm. Interment will be in the Stockholm Cemetery. Following the service all are invited to a time continued fellowship and refreshments at St Theresa’s Parish Hall.
